Acoustic Nights: A Personal Review

Acoustic Nights

Ten Eleven Grill

1011 Grill

So, last night I had the honor of joining 2 awesome vocalist for Acoustic Nights at The 1011 Grill (IG@1011_grill) in Dallas. I was able to feature my original gospel music in an accepting environment. It was a great experience. Thank you to the owner, Dewayne Bryant for believing in my music and creating a platform for my art. I first met Dewayne through a mutual friend and fellow artist, Quentin Moore (FB@qmooremusic IG@qmooremusic), for my Four Women tribute concert to Nina Simone, Jill Scott, India Arie, and Tweet in February 2017. We were kindred spirits and connected right away. I hope to work with him in the future.

Soulful Soundz Band and Lady K

If you have not heard the Soulful Soundz Band (IG@soulfulsoundsbanddfw) with Lady K, you are missing out. Some may remember Soulful Soundz with K Cooks (IG@kcooksmusic) from my #ForeverAlive CD release concert in Dallas in December 2016. They were amazing then and even better now. They kicked off the show with some old school R&B tunes with some jazzy riffs thrown in. I can’t wait to get in the studio with band leader Aaron Weaver. He is a great talent and I can’t wait to see what he can do with my music.

La Bell

La (FB@musicbyla IG@musicbyla_) is a skillful artist that is just raw talent and a superstar in the making. Acoustic Nights was her playground as she strummed her guitar and serenaded us. She knows what she likes and she has a great ear for good music. She sang a mixture of cover songs and original tunes with a project to release next year. I cannot wait. Her showmanship is on point and I love the way she commanded the stage. Very humble and loving as well. She gave me a great big hug afterwards as if we were old friends. She is one to look out for.

Dana Harper and K Cooks

Miss Dana Harper (FB@danaharpermusic IG@danaharpermusic) is a force to be reckoned with. I didn’t get to see her on The Voice but I can see how she made it on Blake’s team. Her tone is reminiscent of Jasmine Sullivan and India Arie with a range I can only dream of. Joined on the stage with guitarist K Cooks (IG@kcooksmusic), there was an announcement made that this duo was going to make this a regular thing. They already have some shows lined up in May around Dallas. Be sure to check them out. Unfortunately I did not get to take a pic with Dana but I have a feeling I will get the chance again. She is very down to earth and takes her craft seriously. She has been doing music full time for a year and she is doing the things I can only aspire to do at this point.
